Does a commercial property need an EPC or one of our other surveys?
Yes! All commercial buildings in construction, or for sale or rent require a Commercial Energy Performance Certificate (Non-Domestic EPC or NDEPC) and a Recommendation Report (RR).
This information helps owners and occupiers make their building more energy efficient and allow potential buyers and tenants to compare the energy performance of different buildings.
The ‘goal posts’ are continually changing with new Commercial EPC legislation now having arrived this year (April 2023) which prevents the renting of buildings with an E grade or below. With the Government considering moving the pass grade to a D, and possibly even up to a C, it’s critical that Landlords and Property Managers review their buildings NOW so not to get caught out later down the line.
You can check the existing EPC for your commercial property by going to the Non-Domestic Energy Performance Register website and you can input your postcode to check the current EPC rating.
How do I order an Energy Performance Certificate, Asbestos Report or a Fire Risk Assessment?
It’s simple and fast!

- Is it for instance a shop, restaurant, office or warehouse and how many rooms are there?
- How many floors are there and what would be the approximate size of the property?
We will then give you a fixed price by return and if you want to proceed we will survey the site, at a time and day to suit you, including early morning, end of the day and even on the weekends! Don’t worry if you don’t have all the details just call and we will sort it out!
Survey to Certificate – We aim for a 24 hour turnaround!
Following the survey, which can be as short as an hour on site depending on the size of the building, we will return to our office and prepare the report. In the case of an EPC failing we will identify the quick cheap fixes to raise the grade to a Pass (so don’t worry!). We always aim for a 24 hour turnaround from conducting the survey to production of the Energy Performance Certificate, Asbestos Report or Fire Risk Assessment. Once complete, we will email you the reports along with the invoice.
